Goodbye 2013, Welcome 2014

Happy New Year everyone! I hope you all had a great time ringing in the new year with friends or family. Mine was great – a chill evening with friends, filled with laughs, delicious eats, and a few beverages. It was a chance to bring everyone together before some big changes. What are these changes you ask? We’ll get to that. And don’t worry – the blog ain’t going no where!

First I want to reflect on the year that has been – 2013. Lots of big things happened for me during 2013. Some highlights include:

  • completing my dietetic internship
  • passing my Canadian Dietetic Registration Exam (I’m officially an RD!)
  • graduating from my 3rd BC university with my 2nd degree
  • moving in with my wonderful boyfriend
  • moving downtown Vancouver and living mere steps from the ocean
  • going to Las Vegas for the 1st time

And of course there were countless fun foodie events, recipes developed, good times with friends and family, etc. There were also many a trying time (hello internship, the flu, finding out I have a herniated disc in my neck, etc), but they were outshined by all the awesomeness that occurred. 2013 was overall a great year, but I’m excited to see what 2014 has in store. You see…I’ve got myself an RD job. 2 in fact. And it means I will be relocating to the northern part of BC. I’m definitely sad to leave behind my friends, family, and the ocean here in Vancouver, but I’m ready for the adventure. I’m excited to finally get to use my skills as a dietitian, gain experience, and advance my career. And I get to experience a true Canadian winter with snow and everything! Yes, I will be the 30-something year old out there making snow angels, building snowmen, and starting snowball fights. Gotta make the most of it, right?

Blogging may be a little haphazard while I make the transition to a new location and new job, but I will try my best to get a post up here and there. I would recommend following me on Twitter and Instagram in the mean time. And speaking of – I’ve updated my Twitter and Instagram handles. You can now find me @Evergreen_RD on both :)

So here’s to a new year and new beginnings! I’ve got my adventure ready to go – tell me about what your 2014 has in store!

Biz – yup, he’s on the move as well. I’m lucky to have such a supportive guy to want to follow me from the big city to a small town for awhile :)
