Get Your Greens Smoothie

Since being up here in Prince George, I’ve been missing one of my favourite quick breakfast/snack/meals – the smoothie. See, I didn’t bring my Blendtec up with me, instead opting to just have it moved up with the rest of my kitchen. Let me tell you – I’m regretting that decision now! I never realized how much I use that machine until going without it for a period of time. So while I’m deprived of delicious smoothie goodness, I thought I’d share this smoothie recipe with you so you enjoy a smoothie or two for me.

This smoothie recipe came about while I was working on a project with North Coast Naturals. They asked me to develop some smoothie recipes with a variety of their products, using simple ingredients that people would have on hand. I thought it would be a fun project, so I said yes. This green smoothie recipe was my absolute favourite of my creations – I found myself making it over and over. And not just because I had spinach to use up ;) It’s just a really tasty smoothie, and is such a lovely green colour. I also love that is doesn’t use bananas or milk (dairy or non). I find almost every smoothie recipe includes either a banana or milk or both. Sometimes, you just don’t want a milky, banana flavoured smoothie. Or at least I don’t.

So since my blender hasn’t yet arrived for me to enjoy a glass of green goodness, how about you give it a go so I can live vicariously through you? Deal?

 

Get Your Greens Smoothie

serves 1

Green is the colour of life & vitality, and this green smoothie will provide you with a plethora of nutrients to keep you thriving! It’s fresh, tart, nutritious, and delicious. It’s vegan, dairy-free, and gluten- free. Now you have no excuse to not get in your greens.

  • 1/2 green apple, cored and chopped
  • 1/2 cup cucumber, chopped
  • 1/4 avocado
  • 1 cup baby spinach
  • juice of 1/2 lime
  • 1 scoop of North Coast Naturals Daily Greens powder
  • 1 tbsp North Coast Naturals Brown Rice Protein Powder
  • 1 cup water

 

1. Place all ingredients in your blending machine of choice. Whiz away until smooth. Drink, enjoy, and thrive!
