So this post was supposed to be about soup. A super easy soup to whip up on a weeknight with black beans, tomatoes, and spices. It was a good one that I made sure to record in my recipe notebook, so that I could share it with you later. The problem? Turns out I didn’t take any pictures of it! Food blogger fail! Honestly, who just wants to read about a tasty soup – you kinda need photos to go along with it. Good thing I have that trusty notebook though…I was able to find another great experiment to share that I do have photos for!
So instead, I have another smoothie recipe I created as part of my project with North Coast Naturals (remember my Get Your Greens Smoothie?). Instead of greens though, this creamy smoothie packs a Vitamin C punch from cranberries, oranges, and strawberries. It was also a great way to use up random fruits from my fridge before moving ;) I had never actually thought about putting frozen cranberries into a smoothie before – for some reason I never saw them as an acceptable smoothie berry. But I love tart fruits, and figured they would pair well with the oranges – and I was right! Lesson learned – all fruits have smoothie potential!
Vitamin C Sunrise Smoothie
Start your day with a 1-2-3 Vitamin C punch! Cranberries, oranges, and strawberries combine with milk and vanilla whey powder to create a healthy grab and go meal that is reminiscent of those creamy, frothy beverages you might find at your local Orange Julius. Indulgent taste, and packed with nutrition – what’s not to like?
- 1 large navel orange, peeled
- 1/2 c frozen cranberries
- 1/2 c frozen strawberries
- 1 c milk (dairy or non)
- 1 scoop North Coast Naturals Vanilla Iso-Protein Whey Powder
1. Place all ingredients in your blending machine of choice. Whiz away until smooth. Drink and enjoy!
