Szechuan

I told you it was take-out night!

That is one giant bag of food for this single girl, isn’t it? Looks can be deceiving – it wasn’t completely full.

Ugh, and there was a leaker – I hate that!

I picked up dinner from one of my favourite, reasonably priced Chinese restaurants – Szechuan. From the outside (and their website) you wouldn’t think it’s that special, but I’ve yet to have a bad dish from here. We’ve ordered from here for work lunches as well, so it’s obviously well received by the masses. Unlike my family, I like to order different dishes every time – there are so many good things on the menu, and I want to try them all! I always pick three – I like the variety, and it means I have at least 4 meals for myself 😀

I know you are all dying to find out what exactly these scrumptious looking dishes are.

Szechuan Crispy Noodle – a thin, crispy fried noodle with various meats (BBQ pork, chicken, prawns) and veggies

Vegetables & Fried Bean Curd – a great mix of stir-fried vegetables with fried bean curd (my fave!)

Prawn in Hot Garlic Sauce – lots of celery, carrots and mushrooms with prawns in one spicy, garlicky sauce. Yum!

I *heart* Chinese take-out!

All of the ingredients they use are high quality, and the food is fresh, even when you aren’t dining in. They have a great range of spicy Szechuan dishes on their menu, so if you like your spice, it’s a great place to go. I would also highly recommend the Tan Tan Noodles (soooo good!), Ginger Beef, and Eggplant in Hot Garlic Sauce (just a few things I’ve had and enjoyed). I guess the only thing missing is my sister’s favourite dish – Almond Breaded Chicken. But as far as I’m concerned, who cares? HA!

I spent the rest of the evening being a slacker, doing laundry, reading, watching tv. It was quite enjoyable. I’ve also been checking out all your suggestions for cinnamon baked goods – keep ‘em coming! I think I know a couple things I’m leaning towards, but my mind isn’t made up yet, and I love hearing how you all enjoy your cinnamon 😀

Eventually, I felt snacky, but stood in my kitchen for what seemed like forever, unable to decide on what to eat. I eventually just threw some Original Puffins in a small bowl, splashed on some chocolate hemp milk, and sprinkled it with coconut. It filled the snacking void, but I don’t know that it was what I was looking for. I still don’t know what I was looking for!

Well, I think it’s time to hit the sack so I can get stuff done tomorrow. I’m hoping to organize my house (and life?) this long weekend. I’m moving in less than 3 months, and I know if I don’t get started on everything now, the time will fly by, and I will be pulling my hair out the night before I move. Toodles!

Mmm, I love Chinese take-out! Yours actually looks really nice; usually take-out is super greasy and generic and full of MSG. 😛

YUM! Your after dinner snack sounds amazing. I’ve never seen chocolate hemp milk–what brand do you buy?

I don’t think I’ve ever been there . . . I TOTALLY recommend however the noodle place directly across the street from the Crystal Pool. Awesome. 🙂

    Have a great weekend!!!

[…] Eventually I ended up at my friend’s place for dinner. I brought over leftover Chinese food from Friday night, and he had some birthday cakes from his birthday this week that we shared for dessert. No pictures, but if you want to see the Chinese take out, check back here. […]
