Broken

Is this karma biting me in the ass this week?

This necklace was my birthday present to myself last year. And today while I was at boot camp, it just snapped. I wear it pretty much ever day! I love my lion necklace.

These necklaces are from Pyrrha Designs – 2 Vancouver based jewellery designers. They use authentic 19th century wax seals to cast the images in each piece. The one I have is the Lion, with the Latin word for “Hope” underneath. Should I take this as a sign? That I have no hope? :S

So before all hope was lost, I had a little snack to tide me over through boot camp. I decided to try out the cottage cheese + jam combo.

I finished off a container of cottage cheese, added a spoonful of my aunt’s homemade grape jelly, a few hemp seeds, and a diced kiwi.

I normally don’t go the sweet cottage cheese route, but damn, this was good! I’m really loving this grape jelly too 🙂

So boot camp was lame tonight. Which really, isn’t the fault of my coach who is running it. They were doing running intervals again – 3 min running, 1 min walking. I knew there was no way I could run that much, and there is another girl there who can’t really run because of ankle tendon injuries, so we stayed back and did some circuit training stuff. But really, I just could not get into it today. I really would have been better off going to the gym on my own, because I would have kicked my ass there. Oh well, at least I got to spend some time outside in the sun being social, right? Even if my necklace broke 😦

By the time I got home, I was cranky, and only sort of hungry. I knew there was one small piece of salmon still in the fridge that was top of the list to be consumed, so I made a salmon caesar salad.

I didn’t really wash & tear enough romaine for the amount of salmon I had, but I wasn’t in the mood to do anymore. Pretty simple though – romaine, dressing, parmesan, salmon, black pepper.

It was good, but I got bored of it by the end and tossed the last couple bites. Not before sharing a little flaky salmon with Sienna of course 🙂

Then I figured some tea would be good for my cranky mood, so I brewed up a mug of Stash Decaf Vanilla Nut Creme tea, to which I added a little milk and agave. I don’t usually add anything to my tea, but it just seemed right tonight. Somehow the last two homemade chocolate chip cookies made it onto a plate and into the picture as well.

Yeah, those are the cookies I made a couple weeks ago. Crazy that they are still around eh? Well, they met their fate tonight.

And you know, the cookies & tea were the perfect ending to the evening. So I think I’ll leave it at that, and make my way to bed. Here’s hoping nothing else breaks on the way…ya know, like a leg, right Erin? 😛 Night!

Aw, at least it was only the chain that broke and you still have the charm. Don’t take it as a sign that there’s no hope… take it as a sign your hope just needs to be renewed with a new chain 😀 Haha

Your cottage cheese snack looks delicious!

Oh, that’s crappy about you necklace! 😦

Cottage cheese and jam rules. Although I did try your version with salt and pepper as a side at dinner a few times and enjoyed that, too!

Sorry about the necklace, i hate it when special items break 😦
While reading your blog I realized that when I make salads with salmon I don’t break up the salmon, I just place the entire fillet on the salad. That’s stupid!! I should cut it up, then add it to the salad. Maybe I just think it looks nicer without cutting it up….but I always make such a mess as I cut it throughout the meal. DUH GINA, cut it before! haha, have a good one 🙂

Aw, that stinks about the necklace. Boooo.
I wish I liked cottage cheese. I can’t get past the texture.
