That’s how I’m feeling today. Not only am I tired, but this week is way too long. All afternoon, it felt like it should be Friday. Alas, there is still one more work day, then I get to go home for the weekend! Although, even that’s bittersweet – sure, it will be great to see the family, celebrate my sister’s birthday and Father’s Day, but I had invites to three different events this weekend that I’m sad I’m missing out on!

I keep waking up around 5 am for some reason, then falling back asleep, and waking up later feeling exhausted. I’m not sure what’s prompting this, but it can stop any time now. Doesn’t give me as much time in the morning as I’d like! Breakfast had to be quick this morning, so I made a smoothie 🙂

  • 1/4 cup oats, whizzed up before hand to a coarse grind
  • 1 banana
  • 1 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1 tbsp flax seed
  • 1 tbsp peanut butter
  • 1 scoop vanilla whey protein powder
  • milk
  • squirt of agave

This was my first time throwing some oats into a smoothie, and really, you couldn’t taste much of them in there. There was a little more texture, but I liked it. Thumbs up to the oatmeal smoothies!

Then I packed a great lunch. I was totally feeling cheese this morning, so I made a cheese sandwich on Silver Hills “The Big 16” bread. Mmmm.

I brought back the usual veggies – cucumber and carrot.

With the rest of the roasted red pepper hummus.

A juicy ripe nectarine.

And a little yogurt fun – plain non-fat yogurt, coconut, and lemon curd.

So the sandwich and veggies/hummus was great! I really enjoyed the cheese sandwich – totally hit the spot. What about the yogurt and nectarine, you ask? Well, I ended up bringing them home, because this afternoon we had a little party at work. One of my coworkers is getting married, so we had a Tiki themed bash upstairs, including lovely blended drinks 😉 So I had a little plate of nibbles – veggies, fruit, cheese, crackers, a coconut shrimp, a mini halibut cake, and a slice of key lime pie. Oh, and a strawberry daiquiri. That may have had a splash of vodka in it. Then I went back to my desk to work for another hour. 😀

Now I’ve totally ruined any appetite I might have had for dinner, so I think I’ll hit up the gym now, and then maybe have a little snack when I get back. See you all later!

A tiki party sounds like a fun way to kill some time on a long day, which felt like Friday to me, too!
