Sunday: Not As Planned

I received a Facebook message from a friend that changed my whole Sunday plans (or lack of plans as it may be).

Friend: “Hey, are you going to the BBQ tonight at so-and-so’s house? If you are, would it be possible to get a ride up there?”

Me: “I didn’t know about any BBQ, so I guess the answer is no?”

Friend: “Well, I asked her if you were coming, and she thought you were. So you should come over.”

Which then proceeded in my just phoning him to figure out plans. HA! Then I got more FB messages from the friend who was having the BBQ. Apparently I was told on Monday, but I would remember something like that. Needless to say, after waking up uber late, I pretty much got NOTHING done on Sunday before I was off for an evening of BBQ & Rockband.

I did manage to get in time for a snack though.

Homemade lemon zinger herbal iced tea and a Peanut Butter Clif Z-Bar.

The Z-Bar was pretty good. I mean, really, how can you go wrong with peanut butter and a chocolate swirl though? Plus is was a great size for a little afternoon snack 🙂

I did also manage to get my bike washed (stupid bird pooped on it), go for a walk, and make myself beautiful before heading out. I bought a salmon burger to throw on the ‘Q, along with some avocado/Laughing Cow smash for the burger. There was also salad and grilled potatoes, and wonderful baking that was not mine – oatmeal chocolate chip cookies and insane brownies. OMG. Seriously, the brownies were so good. I managed to score a couple to take home 🙂

Speaking of home – I didn’t get back here til 12:30 am. On a school night!

Which means…I should still be in bed sleeping, waking up late, and scrambling to work. And yet, I’m here posting even! My internal clock is obviously confused. Works out well for you though – you get to see breakfast this morning 🙂

I had seen a few people in the bloggosphere eating muesli for breakfast, and it reminded me of years ago when I used to make my own and eat it every few days. I figured it was time for a come back, seeing as I don’t really know why I stopped making it. So I threw together a batch on the weekend that I can just scoop from to put in the fridge overnight.

The muesli mix contains oats, oat bran, wheat germ, sunflower seeds, almond slices, and cinnamon. I mix 1/2 cup of muesli with 1/2 cup of unsweetened almond milk, and threw it in the fridge last night. Then this morning I added a spoonful of Ruth’s Chia Goodness cereal and a few spoonfuls of plain non-fat yogurt.

I let that sit for a bit, then added half a chopped apple, a splash of vanilla, drizzle of peanut butter, and fresh raspberries. Accompanied by the usual glass of Happy Planet Mango Peach Party.

Perfect breakfast on a summer morning 🙂 Plus it was basically ready when I got up with minimal effort on my part. Gotta love that!

Well, this girl has got to jet. I’m hopping on the bike this morning to get to work. Happy Monday everyone!
