Mom Comes To Town – Part Two

Welcome to the second instalment of my mom’s visit to Victoria. Missed the first one? Click here! This one is going to be a mishmash of the rest of the things we did – I’m thinking list form will work out well 🙂 Enjoy!

  • Thursday night dinner at The Pink BicycleVictoria’s gourmet burger joint. Can I just say how good our dinner was? I’m going back for sure, hopefully when my sister visits, and I’m brining the camera to share the wonderful eats!
  • Shopping, shopping, and more shopping! Mom hit up a few quilting stores, and I found this jacket that I hinted would make an excellent birthday present 😉
  • Paint sample browsing – my old room is getting painted before I move back.
  • Homemade Pizza Party Friday! We used pizza dough I had leftover from my friend’s pizza party, and topped it with pesto, portabella mushrooms, red pepper, spinach, artichoke hearts, mozzarella, and sheep’s milk feta. Yum!

  • A walk along the water. This was the same day we went up island to explore. It was 32 C up island, then we get to the water, it was 18 C and insanely windy! You can kind of see the storm across the water – we even saw lightening out there.

  • We checked out the Royal BC Museum. They currently have an exhibit in from the British museum that was pretty good – it has highlights of the various civilizations throughout history. I only wish it was more balanced. There was alot from the “Old World”, but very limited items from Asia, Oceania, and the Americas. And of course, no photography was allowed.
  • I finally picked up some art that I have been coveting pretty much since I’ve been in Victoria – an original seaweed pressing from Coastal Prezence. I figure it’s now or never! Isn’t it beautiful? And yes, that is real seaweed. So awesome.

  • There was a late lunch/early dinner on Sunday at the Sticky Wicket Pub. Always a favourite 🙂
  • Fresh peas from my landlord’s garden!

  • And of course, there was tons of packing. Mom took a whole carload of breakables away with her, including ALL of my good glasses. Check out the empty cupboard!

Wow, that sure was a whirlwind recap of the highlights of my mom’s trip here 🙂 I’m sure I’m forgetting some things, but they can’t be that important (and obviously, I have no pictures of them to remind me). And you wonder why I was so tired Monday morning at work, eh? HA! Stay tuned though – in August, you’ll get the “Sister Comes To Town” recap 😉
