Exhausted

Well, today did not go as planned AT ALL. I got zero work done in the office today, which was frustrating since we like to get everything caught up before the weekend. By the time I got home, I looked like this :S

I had planned on being out of the office for a few hours, so I wanted to get in early (aka – on time), so cereal was on the menu for breakfast.

A bowl full of Nature’s Path Pumpkin Raisin Crunch cereal in plain ol’ milk.

And the usual mug of Happy Planet Mango Peach Party.

Then I was off to work. I knew that there was going to be an offload I would need to go to at 10:30, so I would be leaving the office around 10. I figured it should take 2 – 3 hours, and I’d be back around 1 pm. This was not the case. I wasn’t back in the office until almost 5:30 pm. When we arrived at the dock, the vessel wasn’t there. Then we had to wait…and wait…and wait for another vessel to finish their offload. Finally we get started at 1 pm. Did I mention it’s like, 28 degrees C out? And I only brought one water bottle full of water? And no food? To be fair, I did hit up the coffee place near the dock while I was waiting 2.5 hours to start, and got a Green Matcha Tea Chiller (matcha blended with ice, a little too sweet, but it was cold, and that’s all I cared about). Normally, if I knew we were going to have to wait that long, I would have just gone back to the office. But I kept getting this response – “oh, it’ll be about 30 min til we start” – not enough time to go to the office & back. The offload took way too long for the amount of fish, one of the guys cut his finger to the bone and had to go the hospital, and we broke some of our equipment in the process. Awesome.

So, although I packed a lovely lunch, it never got eaten. But don’t worry – because I got sweet eff all done today, I’m going to work tomorrow. I guess that makes up for me taking Thursday off, right?

When I got back to work, there were some coworkers having drinks on the top deck, so I went and joined them, but abstained from the drink, since I hadn’t eaten since breakfast, and still had to drive home. I think I ended up sitting up there until 7 pm. I have had more than my fill of sun for the day!

By the time I got home, I was not interested in putting any food together for dinner, so I hit up an old favourite for some take out.

I can always count on White Spot to be there for me 🙂 Burger, fries, coleslaw, and honey mustard dipping sauce.

The combo also come with a drink – I was in dire need of caffeine, so I went with a Diet Coke. Some of this may have found it’s way into the cup.

Hey, the more bottles I finish off, the less I have to move, right? 😉 This one is almost done – I guess I’ll just have to find other reasons to drink it.

I then fell asleep on the couch, because, as the post title states, I was exhausted. Too much sun, fresh air, standing on concrete making my knees angry, dealing with gong shows, stress from handing in my resignation letter today, and a little alcohol = one tired Marianne. I didn’t get any errands done after work like I wanted. I didn’t clean up my kitchen, or pack anything. I think the only productive thing I managed was laundry, only because I had clothes that smelled like fish. Otherwise, I would have been a complete slack ass.

Obviously, I need to drag said ass to bed, so I can get up and go to work on a Saturday. Blah. Night.

Not a fun sounding day! I would’ve passed out from hunger if I’d been you. I bet that White Spot tasted mighty fine! And work tomorrow? Not cool…
