Day Of Relaxation

That is what I declared yesterday, and it was lovely. I slept in really late, lounged around, did nothing all day, and rocked with friends in the evening. Of course, it meant I was away from the computer most of the day, and that I got NOTHING packed or cleaned, but my mental healthy needed that kind of day. Now it’s time to go full steam ahead before the move!

I do have a recap of yesterdays eats though. I could never leave you guys hanging 😉

As I mentioned, I totally slept in. Breakfast ended up being lunch. And what a great lunch it was.

I received a sample in the mail on Friday, and knew I needed to try it out right away with this meal. What is this item, you may ask?

Dierdre from Pizzey’s Nutritionals offered to send me a sample of some of their flax seed products, which I was more than happy to accept. Especially when I found out they actually grow their product in Canada – gotta represent! After browsing the FlaxMatters website, I decided to try out the Meadowpure Ultra SmoothOmega Milled Flax Seed. This product combines fish oil with milled golden flax to give you a great mix of those ever important Omega-3 fatty acids. This particular product is milled very fine, making it a great product to mix into smoothies, yogurt, and even beverages.

I was really intrigued to try this one that included the fish oil, because a part of me was a little skeptical that you could really combine flax and fish oil without any fishy taste. Let’s face it, I know all about fish smell. I will admit, when I opened the package, I did get the slightest hint of fishy smell, which I’m sure could be a major turn off to someone with an aversion to fish. I’m pretty used to it, due to work and all, so I decided to go ahead and add it to my breakfast.

I decided to test out this product in a yogurt mess.

Into the bowl:

  • plain, non-fat yogurt
  • Meadowpure Ultra SmoothOmega Milled Flax Seed
  • Kashi GoLean Crunch
  • fresh raspberries
  • cooked rhubarb
  • creamy coconut spread

See how fine this flax is ground?

I also had a ED&BV Spelt Zucchini muffin, with the last few blobs of chunky peanut butter.

And my juice substitute – blueberry herbal iced tea.

Before eating, I mixed all those ingredients up in the yogurt, and went to town. And guess what? No fishy flavour. Woot! Not that I don’t like fish, but let’s face it, a fish yogurt mess doesn’t sound the most appealing. Good thing too, since I now have this 2 lb bag of the stuff to eat up. Thanks Dierdre for sending me this sample. I’ll be trying it out in some more foods for sure 🙂

*insert alot of doing nothing here, coupled with some mindless snacking*

Which brings us to dinner. Due to said mindless snacking, I wasn’t super hungry for dinner. But, I knew if I didn’t eat, I’d be famished later on while at my friend’s house, so I brought out my leftover pizza from Thursday night.

Yummy gourmet pizza topped with chicken, red onion, asparagus, garlic, smoked gouda, mozzarella, and smoked cashews. It really is a great flavour combination.

Check out that full clove of garlic.

The last 3 slices.

I then spent the rest of the evening getting my Rockband on. I’ve got to get it all in now – once I move, I won’t be able to play anymore. My friends keep trying to convince me to get a PS3 & the game so I can play with them online, but let’s face it, that carries one hefty price tag. Not to mention how many downloaded songs they also have that I would need to purchase in order to play those as well. Cha-ching!

I didn’t get home until almost 1:30 am, and was starving. Seriously? I know. I thought about some cupcake, but I wasn’t in a sweet food mood. Instead, I came up with this.

Toasted Silver Hills “The Big 16” bread with a wedge of Laughing Cow and some red pepper jelly. Totally hit the spot, and sent me to bed a happy camper.

Now it’s time for me to get crackin’. I’ve got things to do!

mmmm red pepper jelly and laughing cow sounds awesome! That would be good on a turkey sammie. That omega-flax looks quite good too! Great eats and I’m glad you had a great time with friends!

Oh wow, that pizza looks great! Roasted cashews on pizza? Sounds crazy, but that’s two of the best foods, wrapped up into one! What a great idea. The flax looks like a good brand. Currently I use Hogsdon Mills flax, I like it a lot.

What does red pepper jelly taste like? Is it more savory or is it sweet?
