Back In Action

I finally feel like I’m getting settled in, and into some sort of “normal” routine. At least, until school starts. I’m sure it will all change come Sept 8th though 😉

I started out my day with a good ol’ bowl of cereal.

I topped some Kashi GoLean Crunch with craisins and coconut, and drowned it in a sea of milk.

Served up with a glass of cranberry juice.

All featured on more of my mom’s quilted tablecloths. I’m sure you’ll be seeing alot of her work on the blog now that I’m back at home – we have a ton of tablecloths that make the rounds throughout the year.

I ended up heading to mall to do some browsing, and inquire about student cell phone plans (gotta save those $$). Turns out I’ll need my student card though before I can switch over, so I’ll have to wait until Sept. Boo-urns.

All that lack of spending money left me hungry for lunch 🙂

I threw together a sandwich of turkey, beer sausage, and sharp aged white cheddar with mustard on a fresh & fluffy kaiser bun.

With a crunchy carrot.

And refreshing cucumber slices – you know, the usual lunch veggies 😉

I was able to spend some time just reading magazines in the afternoon, while I enjoyed a little snack – a gala apple with peanut butter.

Check out that peanut butter though – it’s Kraft, and the only kind in the house. Note to self – must go out and buy some natural peanut butter. Not that there is any room in our cupboards for any more food. You should have seen us this weekend, amalgamating my kitchen with my families. We have a ton of food! My dad kept commenting on all the “weird” things I had in my pantry. Who knew pappadums were weird? HA!

When my sister got home from work, she said she was off to the gym for a cardio kickboxing class. Since I had planned on hitting up the gym later in the evening anyways, I figured I’d go with her. I hadn’t done cardio kickboxing in years, so it was a great sweaty challenge. Alas, I hadn’t found the box with my HRM yet, so I couldn’t see the damage done during the hour. I just like to know for curiosity’s sake 🙂 I’ll have to remember for next Monday.

Mom had dinner ready when we got back home, but I was verging on starving, so I wolfed it down with nary a picture. Oops! 😳 It was good though – salmon loaf, broccoli, cauliflower, and rice. I know salmon loaf sounds a bit odd, but I assure you, it is tasty 🙂

I had a package of M&M’s leftover from the movies last night, and thought I’d give them a go for a little sweet treat after dinner. They are peanut butter & jam M&M’s.

Uh, yeah. So they kinda suck. I liked the peanut butter in the middle, but their “jam” flavour doesn’t taste like any jam I know. Blech. I tossed the rest of the package, it was that bad. Definitely not on my recommended list!

I spent the rest of the evening actually unpacking and sorting things. I managed to get all of my books, CD’s, DVD’s, VHS tapes, and desk/office supplies unpacked and in their new homes. Who knew I had so much crap! The most important books – my cookbooks – have prime real estate in the bookcase in my room, mostly so they are convenient to use when in the kitchen.

Even with all that unpacking, I still feel like I’ve hardly made a dent. It’s amazing how much stuff one amasses in 5 years of living out of the house.

I hit up the hot tub for a bit later on, then made myself a much tastier sweet treat than those epic fail M&M’s.

Ice cream sundae baby! A small scoop of So Delicious Coconut Milk Ice Cream topped with shredded coconut, caramel sauce, mini chocolate chips, and some almond slices.

You can’t go wrong with ice cream 🙂

But now it is late, and I must find my way to bed. I don’t want to get myself into a habit of staying up til the wee hours of the morning, because I’m going to have early morning classes upon me ever so soon, that will require me to be out of the house on public transit by 6:30 am. I know, it’s as gross as it sounds. I’ll “see” you all tomorrow. Night!

Kashi crunch will never get old! I can’t stand when PBJ flavored things don’t get the flavor right – when you go wrong with PBJ you go REALLY wrong!

6:30’s nothing! I used to have to get up at 5 to get to the school I was assigned as my field 😉

Glad to hear you are settling in, Marianne!!! Also good to know that PB & J M and M’s are LAME. I want to try the PB ones. I ate chocolate pudding skittles the other day thinking they were M and M’s and hated them. Never have been a fan of skittles! blreck.
