Unpleasant Surprises

Today started off like any other day of my “vacation” – me sleeping in and having a leisurely breakfast. I feel like my fruit intake has dwindled since moving, so banana oatmeal was on the menu.

  • 1/2 cup oats, milk, water
  • 1 banana, thinly sliced
  • 1 tbsp flax seed
  • splash of vanilla
  • peanut butter
  • coconut butter
  • shredded coconut
  • drizzle of honey

With a glass of cranberry juice, of course.

Other than the lame Kraft peanut butter, it was a wonderful bowl of oats. Especially since the weather turned and it was actually raining this morning! Uber filling too – the bananas my parents buy are huge.

I’m not really sure where the rest of my morning went. I’m sure it was spent slacking in front of the tv or something equally important. Mostly I was waiting for my mom to get home, since we needed to head to the grocery store for a few things so I could get baking.

She finally got home sometime around 1, and we were off. As we were pulling out of the driveway, what did I see?

That would be my car. With a GIANT DENT in the damn fender. I used a few choice words that would normally be unacceptable in my mother’s company, and was in an angry funk for the rest of the day. Some asshat hit my car, and didn’t even leave a note. I hate people when things like this happen. Seriously – now I have to go deal with the insurance company, and I’ll have to pay the deductable to get it fixed. I swear there is a “kick me” sign on my car. I am so tempted to just sell it, since I won’t really be driving it anyways while I’m in school. Friggin’ money pit I tell ya.

Since I was Cranky McCrankypants when I got home, I went downstairs to sulk (and call the insurance company to make a claim). I also helped my mom finished storing all my junk so we can actually get cars in our garage again. I never really bothered with a proper lunch, due to my filling breakfast and my enraged state. I did manage a couple of snacks though.

A Trader Joe’s Crunchy Peanut Butter granola bar (sent to my by K). Sadly, it was the last one.

I also dug into my dad’s stash of Ritz crackers. Mmmm, buttery cracker goodness. Topped with a little cheddar.

Extreme close up!

Then it was back to the basement for more sulking & napping. My family ordered in dinner, but they ate at like, 5:15 pm. Way too early for me, especially since I’d had my cheese & crackers around 4:30! So I just ignored their dinner calls and pretended I was sleeping. Okay, so I sort of was dozing, but shhh, don’t tell them 😉

I made my way upstairs eventually, and filled up my plate with the Chinese food they left me.

food2 351

It was the standard array of dishes that they always order. Starting with beef & broccoli – which actually had carrot, mushroom, bok choy, and baby corn in it as well.

food2 357

BBQ pork fried rice – my dad’s absolute favourite. He would eat that all on it’s own and be a happy camper.

food2 354

Sweet & sour pork. I will never understand the reasoning behind making the sauce bright red. Gotta love food dye.

food2 355

Chow mein, chicken I assume. You always need a noodle dish.

food2 356

And some breaded almond chicken (sister’s fave), plus a spring roll. Deep fried fun.

food2 360

Turns out my eyes were waaaay bigger than my stomach. Plus the food was overly greasy. I was a total quitter.

food2 361

I so hate wasting food, but frankly, it wasn’t that good. I’m such a food snob these days.

I then got to baking, since that always puts me in a better mood. Too bad you don’t get to see it tonight 😉 It’s for an event tomorrow, so I’ll share it with you then. Ah, the suspense!

Now it appears to be time to make my way to dreamland. I’m still pissed about the car, my hives aren’t going away, I have a headache, and my cat is being a total brat. Wow, talk about complainer! Time to go sleep all this negativity off. Night!

I can’t believe that someone would do that to your car and not leave a note. Very rude and would certainly inspire a foul state of mind. HUMPF!

Oh no!!! Sorry about the car 😦

Ritz and cheddar cheese was my “training” snack – when we had breaks on our long days that was my go to! Ahhh the memories! Can’t wait to see what you baked!

Oh no! I’m sorry someone hit your car. How frustrating! I think cheese and crackers are a great way to drown one’s sorrows! 😀

I can’t believe someone would do that! That would throw off my day for sure!

The Chinese food your family ordered looks so good. I love egg rolls and fried rice. But my tummy can’t tolerate anything fried….so I just look and drool!

Thanks for the email. I’ll be reading.
