Today hockey season really starts back in action – every single team in the league is playing tonight. In fact, my team has already played (and lost) their game today. Should make for a very interesting day in our hockey pool 🙂
But wait – what happened to me last night? Well, my dad, sister, and I went out for dinner to a family favourite (and BC based!), White Spot. Usually, I’ll have a burger, because they have some of the best non-fast food burgers out there, but since I’d already had one for lunch, I branched out. I went with the butter chicken, which was delicious. Not quite as spicy as I would like, but hey, it has to appeal to the masses right? I didn’t take any pics, but they would have looked horrible anyways, as it was so dark in there. I’m sure you can all use your imaginations – butter chicken, grilled naan, and basmati rice flecked with herbs. Yum!
After dinner, my sister and I ended up at my cousin’s house, for an evening of laughs, drinks, and a little Guitar Hero World Tour. Yes, it’s true, I cheated on my beloved Rockband and playing GHWT. I needed my drum fix, what can I say?
So anyways, back to today. I had a nice sleep in, followed by another peachy breakfast. (And I apologize now for the bizarre lighting – I’m not sure what was going on this morning in my kitchen).
As it always seems on the weekend, oats were on the menu, simply because I had the time to devout to making them.
- 1/2 cup oats, milk, water
- 1/2 peach, diced
- splash of coconut extract
- 1 tbsp Ruth’s Chia Goodness cereal
- 1 tbsp flax seeds
- Artisana Pecan Butter
- Artisana Coconut Butter
- shredded coconut
With a glass of subpar cranberry juice. For some reason, my mom bought the calorie reduced (sweetened with Splenda) stuff, and it’s kinda nasty. Le sigh.
The oatmeal made up for the juice fail though for sure.
I then received a phone call from my bank, and had to make my way down there to sign some papers. Talk about a pain in the ass! The traffic was ridiculous, because they are repaving some of the major roads around the mall area. I tried to take the back route, but I guess the rest of the city also had that plan, and I still ended up sitting in traffic for a good 15 min, when my trip should have taken 5 min max. Bah!
I made my way home, and missed the first half of the first period of the hockey game, which in hind sight didn’t really matter since we lost. I played around on the interweb, and made a tasty lunch.
Not only was it tasty, but look how colourful!
My dad had just made some hot dogs for lunch, and oh man, did they smell amazing. I had to give in and cook one up for myself. I topped it with mustard, ketchup, and a little shredded cheddar.
I had the usual veggie suspects – carrot and cucumber.
And some Terra Original Exotic Vegetable Chips. I think these are my absolute favourite. Not only are they beautiful to look at, they taste amazing. The taro is the best.
It was a great lunch to go with my side of hockey.
I’ve been putting off homework all day, and I think I’m going to put it off just a little bit longer so I can go to the gym. Of course, this means braving the ridiculous traffic jam again, but you gotta do whatcha gotta do, right? Later.
I have a peach just waiting to be used! You’ve inspired me to add it to my oats in the AM!
cheese on a hot dog. i never thought of that : )
My team lost too – what the heck!? Hopefully both of our teams step it up a notch.
My team has apparently decided to play like crap to start the season, to get it out of their system. At least that’s what I keep telling myself. LOL.
i got those chips too when they were on sale at loblaws! yummy. also that hot dog looks really good.
Traffic jams suck….period!
I definitely have to buy some of those Terra chips now. The ones in this post are gorgeous!!!
