Still Living In The Past

But only until the end of this post. Or until the next time life gets in the way, and I have a backlog of scrumptious eats to share with you 🙂

Tuesdays (and Thursdays) are going to be my best days, school-wise, this semester. No longer will I have that stupid 4 hour lecture until 6 pm. Instead I’m at school from 9:30 am– 12:30 pm for two classes. It also means my wake up time is later – 6:30 am! Yay!

What does one do when faced with a more time in the morning? Make oats of course.

  • 1/2 cup oats, milk, water
  • 1 banana, thinly sliced
  • splash of vanilla
  • peanut butter
  • homemade pumpkin butter

Do you like the bed sheet for a tablecloth? My dad has started the puzzle he got for Christmas, and this is to keep the cats (mostly Sienna) from kicking all the pieces around.

Even though I’m done class at 12:30 pm, I still don’t get home til around 2 pm, so not only do I need to take a lunch, but it needs to be relatively easy to consume either in class while taking notes, or on the bus. It also means the lunch photography will be happening at home.

And thanks to my sister for cutting up a whack of veggies the night before – I was able to grab some carrot sticks and slice some cucumber.

My psychology lecture was great – we were talking about motivation, specifically focusing on hunger, which then led into eating disorders, obesity, and fad diets. Hurray for relevant topics! This was followed by another new class this semester, a first year biology course about cell biology. I’m still not 100% sure why I even need to waste my time & money taking this – I have a biology degree for crying out loud! Not to mention, I’m taking a 300 level biochemistry class – trust me, I’ve already learned this stuff in much greater detail. I’ll stop ranting now.

I made my way home, and had an hour to relax (and scarf down a chunk of camera shy garlic bread) before heading out to work. Yes, it’s true, I’m working finally. Looks like I’ll be getting three 4 hour shifts a week at the produce market. So far, it seems to be going well, but I’m still iffy on the job itself. At least it’s income right?

Working meant I had to miss the Gold Medal hockey game for the World Junior Hockey Championships though. Booo-urns. We ended up losing to the US, so I guess it was okay that I missed it. Who am I kidding, it’s not okay. But my Canucks were in action as well, and they stepped up and won!

I chowed down on dinner while watching the game – mom’s beef stew with dumplings.

I was way too tired from my day to even think about heading to the gym. So I made myself comfortable in the massage lounger and enjoyed a little snack.

One of the Cocoa Banana Muffins I made on Monday, and a mug of Silk Road Cherry Haiku tea (green tea & sour cherry).

The tea was good, but I think I brewed it a little too weak for my tastes.

Then, despite my tiredness, I proceeded to stay up later than I should have. Such is the story of my life – I was born a night owl, and will always be one.

Now it’s time for me to enjoy the last hour of my break between classes at school. I’ll see you all this evening for more food voyeurism. Later gators.

    Woohoo for sleeping in a little bit more! That mac and cheese looks great. I hate when colleges nickel and dime you for all of your money (i.e. you having to take bio despite the degree) – so annoying!

    Haha, you and I sound alike–this past semester I didn’t have class until 11:40 on Tuesdays and Thursdays, so I designated those days as “oatmeal days.”

    Oatmeal is always the answer when faced with extra time in the morning! Glad you’ve got an easier schedule to balance out your week!
