When It Rains, It Pours

And I’m not talking about our usual winter weather here in the Lower Mainland 😉

Since Tuesday morning is my “late” (and I use that term loosely) morning, I was ready to whip up a pot of oatmeal.

Food 3 354

I had rhubarb on the brain, so that was the star of my oats.

Food 3 358

  • 1/3 cup oats, milk, water
  • frozen rhubarb
  • 2 dried figs, chopped
  • 1 tbsp flax seed
  • Artisana Pecan Butter
  • sprinkle of brown sugar

Food 3 353

With a glass of cranberry juice, just to mix it up a little.

Food 3 356

Great way to start the day.

Food 3 357

I also packed up a quick, easy to nosh lunch.

Carrot & cucumber. When do I not take carrot & cucumber?

Food 3 360

Some Wasa crackers.

Food 3 361

A Peanut Butter & Jelly Larabar.

Food 3 362

Plus some Sabra hummus for dunking those veggies & crackers.

Food 3 363

I’m sure my classmates love that I bring garlicky, crunchy food with me to lecture 😉

Side note – this was the 2nd time I tried the PB&J Larabar, and I must say, I enjoyed it immensely more this time. I think it was fresher. Thumbs up!

After class, I made a quick stop to buy some cheap avocados (another craving that needed satisfying), then hopped back on my bus. Worst bus ride ever! Some chick got on the bus, and we hadn’t gone more than a block, and she yakked at the back door! SO GROSS. The bus STANK, and I couldn’t get the window near me open. It’s an express bus, so it only had a few stops to go, so I toughed it out and made it to the train. Boy was I happy for the fresh air!

Then my commute home got even better. I took the train to the bus loop, knowing I had 5 min until my bus would come. So I waited…and waited…and waited with all the other people there. Damn thing never showed up. So I was stuck there for 30 min waiting for the next bus. BAH! Transit has it in for me this week.

I was definitely ready for a snack when I got in the door, so I whirled up a smoothie.

Food 3 364

Can you tell just how warm and balmy it’s been here the past 2 weeks? Check out how green our backyard is – it’s freakin’ January!

Into my smoothie went half a banana, some cantaloupe slices, vanilla whey protein powder, coconut extract, and some milk. It was lovely.

Food 3 365

Although all I wanted to do was relax on the couch for the afternoon, I knew I should get off my rear end and get my sweat on. I pulled out Jillian Michaels’ “No More Trouble Zones” and went to town. I haven’t done this one in ages, and oh boy, am I going to be sore tomorrow! Secretly, I kinda like the day after workout pain 😉

Dinner was a fun one – soft tacos!

Food 3 370

On a salsa & black bean tortilla I added refried beans, ground beef, lettuce, salsa, cheddar, and sour cream.

Food 3 371

And then totally spazzed out when I tried to wrap it up. I fail and burrito/soft taco wrapping.

Food 3 374

Fortunately I didn’t end up wearing any of it.

I did some primping & preening after dinner (ain’t no way I’m getting up even earlier to shower), then settled in for some Biggest Loser on tv, and yes, a snack.

Food 3 377

The current obsession – Liberté Greek Yogurt, peanut butter (almost out – ACK!), agave – topped with a little homemade pumpkin butter and granola. Unpictured were a couple of handfuls of popcorn that my dad brought down. Can’t say no to freshly popped popcorn!

I know what you are all thinking – Marianne, you title doesn’t make sense (although, it could apply to my crappy transit luck this week). Well, while I was watching tv this evening, I received a phone call from a local grocery store I applied to, oh, back in November? And they want me to come in for an interview! Woot! The only snag – they are doing interviews on Sunday afternoon, and I have to work. She’s going to see if I can come in Sunday morning, so keep your fingers crossed. This would be a much better fit for me than where I’m at currently.

Alas, I have one loooong day ahead of me tomorrow, so I must wrap this up and hit the sack. Night!

Ok, I have to ask how in the world you made rhubarb taste good? I tried it once and gagged!

I’m craving a Larabar now though.

Sheesh! Don’t envy you your commute today. Nasty stuff! That’s great news about the job prospect, though. Fingers are crossed.

Okay, your 1/3 cup of oatmeal looks wayyy better than my measely 1/3 cup. I always have to use 1/2, it’s never enough! 😉

Cannot believe a girl yakked on your commute! So awful.

Congrats on that interview, hope it goes well!

Isn’t it weird how the PBJ Laras are so hit or miss?! I had one that I LOVED and then the 2nd one was just blah. Good luck getting the job worked out!!
