Working For The Weekdays

Wait…isn’t it supposed to be working for the weekend?

Who doesn’t need a little Loverboy in their day? Yeah Canadian 80’s rock!

As you can guess by my absence, I was one busy bee this weekend. I had two 8 hour shifts at work, a birthday party, an interview, and homework to do. It was go, go, go all weekend long, and I was just too wiped out to give you any sort of decent post. But here we are, Monday afternoon, and we’re gonna get caught up.

Saturday

I had hoped to get up somewhat early on Saturday so I could get in a quick trip to the gym before work, but you know how waking up early + me goes – it just doesn’t happen. But I knew I had enough time to get in a quick walk if I made a quick breakfast.

Food 3 454

The usual smoothie blend:

  • 1 banana
  • cocoa powder
  • peanut butter
  • oats
  • vanilla whey protein powder
  • milk

Food 3 452

Frothy and delicious.

Food 3 453

I gulped that down, and was out the door for a brisk walk around the neighbourhood. It left me with just enough time to make my lunch, get purdied up, and arrive at work on time. Lunch wasn’t anything fancy, mostly because we had the big party later on.

Food 3 455

Avocado & cheddar cheese sandwich on Silver Hills Squirrelly bread.

Food 3 456

Local kiwi fruit. Gotta love ‘em!

Food 3 458

And a Cinnamon Roll Larabar. I always forget how much I enjoy this flavour.

Food 3 457

Work was busy, but uneventful. Well, other than they screwed up my schedule for the coming week. I had left a note with some days I couldn’t work, and I guess there was some confusion, so I ended up with only one shift this week. I think we have it sorted out now though, so it’s just a blip 🙂

I expected that by the time I got home at 7:45 pm that the party would be started, food we be going, and I’d just load up a plate and have my dinner. WRONG! Not everyone was there, and they hadn’t even put the food out on the table. Fortunately, we were eating shortly after 8:00 pm.

Food 3 459

Just a couple plates missing from that table, with the hot items from the oven.

Here’s my pile o’ food.

Food 3 460

The usual party fare. Although, we did have bacon wrapped scallops. NOM!

Food 3 461

And instead of melon, we had a really tasty papaya.

Food 3 462

My sister even created a crab & artichoke dip.

Food 3 463

This party wasn’t just for my mom, but also for 2 of my aunts, as they all share the same birthday. They all made it onto the cake.

Food 3 464

I definitely enjoyed a slice of that cake – centre cut, since I despise cake icing. There was also a glass or two of Cab Franc/Merlot, and perhaps a shot of limoncello? Needless to say, I was beyond exhausted by the time everyone left around midnight.

Sunday

As much as I would have loved to sleep in until it was time for work, I had things to do in the morning – like my interview at Thrifty Foods. I needed to make sure I had a good breakfast to fuel some intelligent answers to their questions.

Food 3 468

The Liberté Greek yogurt was calling my name, so I went with it and made a great yogurt mess.

Food 3 466

I mixed the yogurt with peanut butter and agave, then added some Kashi GoLean Crunch, frozen blackberries, and coconut flakes.

Food 3 467

With a glass of the good stuff – Happy Planet Tropical Tango juice.

Food 3 470

I got all cleaned up and looking sharp, and headed out to the interview. I think it went really well – I felt good about it, and it seemed very positive, so here’s hoping I hear back with good news.  They are hiring for a few positions, and it looked like they had 8 or 9 names on their interview schedule. I should hear by the end of the week – fingers crossed people!

I made my way back home, and got ready for work. I’m sure it won’t shock you to see I had party leftovers for lunch.

Again, nothing eventful to report at work. We sold produce. I actually took advantage of my discount for once and picked up some fun things (you’ll see later). That’s all there is to say about that.

Dinner was ready and waiting when I got home.

Food 3 476

Mom’s infamous homemade macaroni & cheese.

Food 3 478

And uh….more party leftovers.

I then spent the rest of my Sunday evening getting my school work on. I had all these random little things that were due by the end of the weekend, so I plugged through, with the help of a mug of hot chocolate.

Food 3 480

I went to bed way later than I wanted, but I felt accomplished, so I figure that counts for something.

So now that that’s out of the way, I hope you all come back later on tonight (or tomorrow for those of you not on the west coast). I have something exciting coming up – I hope you think so as well 😀

WOW! You sure were a busy gal! Two 8 hour shifts sounds a little hellish to me. I feel for your legs! Can’t wait to see what you picked up, though and what your “something” exciting is!
