Happy Easter!

Happy Easter to all my blog reading friends! I hope you had a great day – even if Easter isn’t something you celebrate. I spent most of my day at work, but still got in a tasty dinner with the family.

I slept in a bit this morning, then got up to have my glass of greens+ extra energy. This morning, my mom asked what I was drinking, and she tried a sip. She agreed that the “natural orange flavour” was a bit much, and thought it would be somewhat nauseating to drink the whole glass. She was with me in thinking that vanilla would be a good flavour to offer across the whole greens+ line, because it’s much more neutral and pleasing to more palettes. Genuine Health – take note!

After my swamp water, I was on to making a filling breakfast.

I started with a slice of toasted Silver Hills sprouted grain bread, topped with some Almond Budder Extreme.

Then I whizzed up a smoothie in the Magic Bullet, including frozen blueberries, avocado, spinach, milk, cocoa powder, and skim milk powder.

We joked that everything I had this morning looked like sludge. LOL.

Why skim milk powder in the smoothie? Well, I bought that package of the stuff for a school assignment, so I figure I need to use it up somehow. The package suggests using it in smoothies, and since I’m currently out of the protein powder I’d usually add in, I figured why not? Alas, I think I put a bit too much in this one. Oops!

I wasted time all morning before getting ready for work, which included packing up a snack/lunch.

The last few dolmades. Nom.

Lots o’ strawberries.

And a Kashi granola bar – Seven Whole Grains & Almonds.

Lots of tasty treats to keep me going to the big Easter dinner!

Work was much busier than I thought. Seriously – why were all those people grocery shopping at 5 pm on Easter Sunday? Don’t they have families to celebrate with? Crazy I tell ya! At least I still got to leave a few minutes early, so I could get home and join the dinner already in progress.

Once I got home & change into normal clothes, I loaded up my plate with all the offerings.

Starting from the 12 o’clock position, going clockwise – roasted acorn squash with cheese, flaky buttery dinner roll, asparagus, 5 cup salad, mashed potatoes, turkey, stuffing (smothered in gravy), and carrots in the centre. Missing from the photo was a glass of Gooseberry wine. The best part was the stuffing & gravy. I looooooove stuffing & gravy. I made sure mom saved some stuffing, just in case everyone ate it all. LOL.

Of course, we couldn’t have a holiday meal without a little dessert.

This would be Sex In A Pan (made in deep dish pie plates for easier serving). On a shortbread like crust you have sliced bananas, a cream cheese/cool whip layer, then a chocolate pudding layer, with a final topping of whipped cream & chocolate shavings. With a couple strawberries on the side, for a pop of colour. Please excuse the broken piece I got to eat – can’t serve those to guests 😉

To go with our dinner, I purchased the Canucks hockey game on PPV. Good thing they won, otherwise that would have been a waste of my $15+ dollars!

Now it’s late, and I’m going to read a book. The whole thing. A lofty goal, I’m sure, but I can do it!

How was your Easter Sunday? Did you do anything fun? Let me know!

My dad actually swears by powdered skim milk for his smoothies–he says it creates a great texture. Never tried it myself, but considering my love of smoothie experimentation, why not?

GREAT Easter meal! I haven’t had sex in a pan in years. That stuff is great. I like that you put avocado in your smoothie. Bet that gave it a nice, smooth consistency.
