He Shoots, He Scores!

Big news in the hockey world – Henrik Sedin of my beloved Vancouver Canucks has won the NHL scoring title for the 2009 – 2010 season!!! It’s a pretty big damn deal, since no Canuck has ever won the scoring race. And talk about dramatic fashion – he racks up 4 points last night with two players trailing him playing today who could potentially take over the lead, being Ovechkin and Crosby. Ovechkin is shut out in his game, then Sid the Kid gets 5 points, getting oh so close, but not quite. Oh how I love hockey season…bring on the playoffs!

Seriously, that was about the highlight of my day, since I spent most of it at work. And it was so beautiful out, it was a shame I had to spend it all in a grocery store. Oh well, I guess that’s how it goes sometimes.

Breakfast was simple, because I wanted to sleep in as late as possible on my Sunday morning.

Just a bowl full o’ cereal.

Kashi GoLean Crunch, Peanut Butter Puffins, craisins, and flaked coconut to be exact.

With a shaker cup of the swampy greens+ extra energy. Mmm, mmm, good.

I didn’t take pictures of my packed lunch today, but if you imagine these two photos

inserted into tupperware containers, paired with some juicy green grapes, and you’ve got my lunch.

Those photos being leftovers from dinner last nightmiso soup and brown rice sushi.

Work was long, and somewhat boring until late in the afternoon when it finally got busy. Standing all day sucked, because I managed to get a sliver in my big toe yesterday, which broke off and refused to come out. So when I got home from work, that was the first thing on my mind – get out that sliver. Some epsom salts & good ol’ fashioned prodding later, and my foot was sliver-free!

I was totally in a junk food mood, so I just went with it for dinner.

That would be a tasty hot dog with mustard and cheddar cheese on a fluffy white hot dog bun.

With some dill pickles, and new Miss Vickie’s Chips that I’ve been wanting to try – Balsamic Vinegar & Sweet Onion.

I’ve seen these chips at the store, and every time someone goes through my till with them, I ask how they are. Well, everyone is just trying them for the first time, so I never get any feed back. Until today, when one guy was buying two bags because they were good. Finally! Since we also had them on sale, I figured it was an omen. And I wanted junk food. So there you go.

The perfect ending to a junk food meal? Peanut butter & chocolate swirled ice cream.

Check out all that peanut butter. Oh yeah.

Other notable things from this evening included:

  • Getting my sister & her boyfriend to watch Food, Inc., which was on CBC News World tonight (Note – CBC will be steaming it online here)
  • Finding out that my sister’s boyfriend’s cousin was one of my good friends back in high school. Small world!
  • Writing my last online food science quiz of the semester. Assignments are now all officially complete – bring on the finals!

And that, my friends, brings another weekend to a close. Only one more week left of classes, and I’m free…well, other than those pesky finals. Time to hit the sack, so I’m raring to go tomorrow morning. Night!

I eat a hotdog a couple times a summer. They are sooo good. I try not to think about it when I’m eating. Smothered in cheese – SOOO tasty!

I worked in a grocery store when I was a teenager and all I can remember about it is how sore of a back I would go home with from standing ALL day. Ugh…
