Soup For Breakfast?

That’s sure what it looks like!

I woke up this morning with a smoothie in mind for breakfast. But I got a little wild & crazy with it.

First off, as you can clearly see in the picture, I went with the whole “smoothie in a bowl, topped with granola (or Kashi GoLean Crunch in my case” presentation, as seen on multiple other blogs. I can’t say why I did it – it just seemed right.

What you can’t tell is that, in addition to the banana, spinach, yogurt, vanilla, and agave ingredients, I threw my daily serving of greens+ extra energy, for an extra green boost.

This would have been better if I hadn’t added any agave. I forget how sweet the greens+ powder is on it’s own. Couple that with the ripe banana, and the fake orange flavour of the powder, and it made for an extra sweet breakfast. It needed the counter balance of the cereal for sure!

I packed a mini lunch/snack for school. It included the Cherry Cashew Pure Bar that Hangry Pants Heather sent me.

And a whack of green grapes.

Did I mention these grapes are particularly awesome? So sweet!

Today I discovered that my 2nd class of the day was the last one for that class. Which means I only have one class to go to tomorrow, and one on  Thursday. This week just keeps getting shorter, and shorter school wise. I’m loving the end of this semester – I have no papers, all my classes are wrapping up early, and my exams coming up are actually pretty easy. I think I’m the only non-stressed student on campus.

When I got home, I had another snack to make up for my small lunch.

Nothing special – just half a cheese sandwich on sesame white bread. I do love me some cheese sandwiches.

The afternoon was spent wasting time and watching hockey playoffs related things on tv, then it was time for a tasty dinner.

Mom bought some really good steaks, and grilled them up on the BBQ, despite the rain.

IMG_6681

That’s only half of my steak – I saved the other half for another meal.

We also did up potato wedges. Dad was a big fan. I always make mental note of the things I cook that he likes, because he isn’t the most adventuresome food person.

IMG_6679

Plus a big ol’ green salad with cucumber, green onion, carrot, corn, pea shoots, and tomatoes (absent from my plate, of course).

With some sweet chili sauce & sour cream for potato wedge dipping, dinner was served.

A little story about mom buying the steaks – I guess a woman at the grocery store commented on how expensive the steaks were she was buying. Mom said “Yes, but it’s a treat for my family”, because as you’ve noticed, it’s not like we are eating filet mignon every night. The other woman still thought it was too much, and said “well, I have too many people to feed to buy that, even as a treat”. I don’t even know where I was going with this, but I thought it was kinda funny. It’s the whole quality over quantity thing – we’d rather have a good steak less often then crap steak all the time.

After dinner I helped mom give her cat a bath (that’s always entertaining, bathing a 20lb cat), then I was off to Zumba. As usual, it was a blast, even if my hips don’t shake & roll as they should. I figure I’m one up on some people there, because at least I have timing. Thank you figure skating!

I finally found my way back home, where I settled in on the couch with my laptop and my Sprouts brownie.

Where I proceeded to get in some quality tv time, whilst interwebbing.

Now my friends, it is time to get some shut eye. I have my last 8 am class of the semester tomorrow. I am so looking forward to NO MORE 5:30 AM wake up calls! Night 🙂

I’ve seen a lot of red meat in blogs this morning. It looks so juicy and tasty!

What a good idea, smoothie topped with cereal! That’s a good summer breakfast!

wooohooo for no more 5:30am wake ups!!! The extra sleep is INVALUABLE. I’ve been known to do the whole snooze business and have been getting worse and worse these days. 😛 I can’t wait to be done with my job so that I can sleep in and make things like breakfast smoothies!!!! That looks awesome and…oh so green!

Yay for end of term! Yay for no more 5:30am!!! Pssssshh “easy exams” :p. I can’t say mine are hard, but they’re in a little cluster on Thursday (2 that day) and Friday (1, but my hardest) so… I’m preparing now so as to not be crunching in as much next week.

Hooray for almost the end of the school year! Wow, a 20 pound cat – I would have liked to see a picture of that bath!

Sometimes steak prices are high by me, but I figure if my husband and I split one, it’s way cheaper than going out to a restaurant! 😀

    Hope all is well Marianne!
