Good Times All Around

Today has been a good day.

It started with a giant glass of green power – aka greens+ extra energy.

Followed by some delicious banana fig oats.

  • 1/2 cup oats
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 tbsp skim milk powder
  • 1 banana
  • 3 dried figs
  • 1 tbsp flax seed
  • splash of vanilla
  • peanut butter

Really, how can a day be bad when it starts with awesome oats?

Dressed in my Canucks jersey, I was off to my last class (psychology) of the semester. Yes, I am officially done classes. Sure, I still have 4 exams to go, but lectures are done. It’s a weird feeling, knowing that I won’t be madly scribbling notes in class until September now.

After class I checked my emails, where something not just good, but great was waiting for me – the email stating that I have been shortlisted for an interview into the Dietetics program!!! I’ve been waiting to hear since we handed in our applications on March 1st. The first big hurdle has been cleared – now I just need a stellar interview. Any RD’s out there reading – do you have any tips or suggestions on what you would want to see from a potential dietetics candidate?

Carrying on my good day, I made a great lunch to enjoy out in the sunshine.

I haven’t had a tuna sandwich in ages. This one contained tuna and dill pickles on toasted Silver Hills sprouted grain bread.

Paired with some fresh veggies – cucumber and carrot – and tzatziki for dipping.

Can you believe the weather we’ve been having? Lovin’ it!

A little lunch dessert, in the form of robin’s eggs maltesers.

I was loving the sunshine so much, I went out for a quick 30 min power walk before having to get ready for work.

So maybe work wasn’t anything spectacular, but it wasn’t bad, so I guess that makes it a good thing by default? Plus it was only a 4 hour shift – those just fly by.

I arrived home having only missed 5 minutes of the Canucks first playoff game vs. the LA Kings. No score, so I hadn’t missed any of the important parts. Perfect! No one felt like cooking, so dad made a quick trip to our local Safeway to pick up his favourite take out…

Chinese food. Mmmm.

My meal included some honey garlic pork.

Mixed stirfried vegetables.

And some chow mein.

So it’s not the best Chinese food, but it’s far from the worst. Plus I just wanted to sit in front of the tv with my beloved hockey. Speaking of which – we won our first playoff game in overtime. It was a good game, and I think the whole series is going to be great. Especially when we win 😉

The next good thing about today? I don’t have to be in bed in order to get up at the crack of dawn in the morning because…oh yes, I’m done classes! Woot! I also have the following fun things coming up this weekend:

  • payday $$
  • mani/pedi with my cousin’s wife (can you believe I’ve never had either?)
  • dinner out with my good friend at Joey’s (what to order, what to order – here’s the menu, help me decide)
  • 2nd Canucks playoff game!

Sure, I need to get in some biology studying, but pfft, that’s nothing 😉

Time for me to sleep. Don’t forget about my Wellness Show Giveaway. Night!

Yay for getting the interview. 🙂 All I remember from last year was they asked a question along the lines of “What health problem/disease could a deitetian potentially help with?” I totally blanked for a second being so unprepared. The other questions were the usual, what will you bring to the profession. or what are your weaknesses, how do you see yourself overcoming these?

Congrats on being done with classes AND getting over the first hurdle for your internship!! You’ll do just fine in your interview – no doubt in my mind! I haven’t had a mani/pedi either. I don’t like the thought of people touching my feet but a mani would be fun – enjoy!!
