Everything But Studying

Howdy all! I know I went a little MIA there for a few days, but I was busy living life and attempting to study for my biology final that I wrote this morning. Oh, and I had to get in some important hockey watching. Priorities, right?

How about we recap the weekend? Sound good?

I’d love to say I was up early, getting things done, but you all know I’d be lying. Sleeping in is the name of the game around here when I can, so I did. Then I made breakfast.

A smoothie, containing strawberries, spinach, avocado, skim milk powder, peanut butter, water

…and this:

Vega Sport Performance Protein Powder – Vanilla flavour. It’s my newest acquisition. And it came with an awesome reusable bag.

I swear, Vega make the best reusable bags. Large, stylish, what more can you ask for? Here’s the other side.

Soon there after, I was dressed and out the door for my manicure/pedicure appointment with my cousin’s wife & her friend. We went to Pure Nail Bar in Port Moody, who currently have a special mani/pedi combo for $50. Not bad! Since I’m so not girly, I went the non-traditional colour route for my toes – a greenish black colour.

Then went completely opposite on the fingernails – a silvery sheer colour.

You like? I do. I could get used to that whole pedicure thing. The manicure – meh, it’s fine, but not necessary since I’m not a fingernail polish kinda person anyways.

I decided to have a snack instead of lunch, since I wasn’t super hungry when I got home.

Whole wheat pita, green grapes, tzatziki sauce, caffeine. Kept me going through some biology studying and hockey watching. Probably more hockey watching than biology studying 😉

Then I was off to meet my good friend for dinner. We’ve known each other since grade 5, so basically forever. I’m sure we’d love to get together more often, but our schedules just don’t jive all the time.

Our dinner destination was Joey’s, which is never a disappointment. When we arrived, there was a small wait, but not bad considering it was a Saturday night and the Canucks were playing hockey. Alas, we were seated far away from the tv’s, and in some rather dark lighting, so my photos are less than amazing.

I settled on the Lobster Grilled Cheese with their Simple Green Salad.

The salad was a bed of mixed salad greens, topped with dried cranberries, almonds, and feta cheese, in a honey balsamic vinaigrette. The sandwich was rich and decadent, with lobster, cheddar, and brie. Loved that sandwich, and loved that salad.

We hummed and hawed over dessert, and finally ended up with one.

The Individually Baked Apple Piebrown sugared apples, toasted almonds, hand-folded puff pastry, caramel sauce and maple ice cream. Ummm…yeah. I don’t think I need to say anymore. Other than to give mad props to the ice cream scopper – could that be any more perfect of a scoop? I think not.

We headed back over to her place, where we saw the Canucks lose their game in OT. Boo-urns! I made my way home around 11 pm, did a small amount of studying, and called it a night.

Wake up early to get some studying done? Not likely. Although, I didn’t sleep in that late, because Costco was on the agenda! But first – breakfast.

Toasted Ezekiel Englsih muffin with Almond Budder Extreme, yogurt with strawberries and Peanut Butter Puffins, and a frothy glass of greens+ extra energy.

*insert Costco trip here*

When we got back, mom made plans to go for a hike with a friend, which sounded like much more fun than studying all day in the house. So I gulped back a Happy Planet Extreme Green juice, and put on my hiking boots.

Off to Minnekhada Regional Park we went to enjoy the beautiful weather. We spent a good 2 hours in the park, walking the trails, climbing up mountains, and enjoying the scenery. I took a ton of photos, but will share just a few.

In this last photo here, do you see the flatish hill in the background, sort of going from the centre towards the right? I live on that hill 😀

While we rested at the top of the mountain enjoying the view, I munched on a Chocolate Crisp Bumble Bar.

Totally love these things. Mom tried it and thought it was great as well.

Alas, we had to come home, mostly so I could study. And consume junky studying foods.

Which I balanced out with a delicious, nutritious dinner.

Shrimps on the BBQ, grilled asparagus, and raw veggies with tzatziki.

And a slice of this bread…

…spread with a little buttah. Nom.

Once we cleaned up the kitchen and the table was clear, I was back into biology study mode, doing practice questions and writing up my cheat sheet for the exam (we were allowed one – don’t worry!)

Around, oh, 10:30 pm I was munchy again. A green tea latte and some homemade cookies satisfied that.

I finally called it a night way later than I would like to admit, considering my exam was schedule for 8:30 am Monday morning.

Which is where I shall leave you this evening. I’m off to study biochemistry, but you should enter my Wellness Show Swag Bag Contest – it includes passes to the show!

I’ve never had a mani OR pedi done. I guess I figure I can do a half decent job on my own for a HECK of a lot cheaper… aka essentially free. But I do want to try out a least a pedi one of these days, especially since they seem to last much longer than chipping fingernail polish.

Lobster grilled cheese sounds brilliant. I want! And I’m with you, that ice cream scoop IS completely perfect.

I was just thinking about how I’d like to go on a hike. Unluckily I don’t live in a very hike-y city. No fun.

Hope the bio exam went well!

We have a restaurant named Joey’s but it isn’t half as good as yours looks!

I haven’t had cheesies in years, I may have to have some this weekend. YUMMY!
