Long Work Weekend

Unlike the rest of my Canadian friends, my long weekend will be spent working. Yes, I get to work Friday – Monday of the Victoria Day long weekend. It’s not that bad though – I have next weekend off for a mini-road trip 🙂 Plus I like getting the stat pay on Monday 😀

And since I was at work all day yesterday, I have nothing witty to banter about. So you’ll just get plain ol’ food. M’kay?

I had a bit of time in the morning before I was off to work, so I decided to use it wisely and make some oatmeal.

  • 1/2 cup oats
  • 1 cup water
  • 3 tbsp skim milk powder
  • 1 banana, thinly sliced
  • splash of vanilla
  • 1 tbsp flax seed
  • peanut butter
  • Western Sage Cinnamon Creamed Honey

Extreme peanut butter & honey close up!

Talk about fluffy banana oats!

All neatly packed up in little containers.

There were the usual things, like yogurt & granola, chopped up raw veggies (carrot, cucumber, snap peas), plus half of a grapefruit.

And a new bar I picked up on sale at work – Elevate Me! Matcha Green Tea with Cranberries.

It’s basically made with dried fruits & nuts, plus whey protein for that added protein boost.

It comes already sectioned into 3 pieces, making it easy to snack on throughout the day. I quite enjoyed it, although the colour was reminiscent of cement. Thumbs up to this being made by a Canadian company!

We had the dinner I planned for Thursday night. But since I was at work, I didn’t have to cook it 🙂

There were two highlights to this meal. The first – bison jalapeno cheddar smokies. The ones I picked up at the organic meat store. Yum! Except I think they were missing the jalapeno & cheddar. D’oh!

And as you can see in the photo, we had corn on the cob! Woo! And it was good. So sweet.

I also picked up some salads from our deli at work. The front one is a creamy pesto pasta salad, while the back one is a dijon red potato salad.

Such a summer BBQ meal, isn’t it?

I thought I might go to the gym in the evening, but I was way too tired. All I wanted to do was chill in front of the tv. And eat the last serving of strawberry rhubarb crumble.

That was the fastest post I’ve written in ages! Time to head off to day 2 of work!

Woah! Green tea in a nutty/fruit bar? That sounds fabulous, I’m definitely going to keep my eyes out for one of those 🙂
