Burger-licious

Today was just all over the map, and hardly anything went as planned. It all started out when I slept in way later than planned. By the time I got up, I had to decide if I wanted breakfast or lunch, or a little bit of both. I went with the last option.

My mini breakfast consisted of a Vega Shake & Go Smoothie.

That would be the Vanilla Almondilla flavour, mixed with almond milk. The only way to consume them, as far as I’m concerned.

On the side I went with a slice of A Bread Affair’s 100 Mile bread. You know, the one studded with the blueberries and hazelnuts.

I spread just a wee bit of butter on there. Fabulous.

Since I’d slept in so late, I decided to push my gym trip until after work, which allowed me to have a more leisurely morning. And gave me time to enjoy my mini-lunch.

Despite all of the burgers I’d eaten during my weekend in Victoria, I had a hankering for one today. This time though, I went with Amy’s California Veggie Burger.

It was actually the avocado in our fridge that led to my veggie burger craving. It just sounded like the perfect way to enjoy some creamy avocado. Don’t you agree?

Also invited to the party were some dill pickles, onion, lettuce, Little Qualicum Cheeseworks Herbie Fromage Frais, mayo, and dijon mustard. It was definitely burger-licious!

Since I was only working a short work shift, I packed a little snack of carrots & cucumber, with some hummus for dipping.

But as luck would have it, someone called in sick at work, and they asked me to stay until 9 pm. I’ll take any extra hours I can get while I’m free to work this summer, so I said yes. I hadn’t packed any extra food for dinner – that’s where working in a well stocked grocery store comes in handy! I grabbed a prosciutto and edam cheese panini from our deli. It was pretty tasty, and quite filling. Excuse the subpar Blackberry photo.

Plans changed again, as work was very slow, and they let me go home at 8:30. I also ended up agreeing to an extended shift tomorrow. At least I know about this one in advance, so I can plan accordingly!

By the time I got home, I was ready for a little snack. Good thing I may have picked up some very scrumptious pecan chocolate chip cookies on the way home from work. Did I mention we have a pretty spectacular bakery? Dangerous stuff! I enjoyed my cookie with a mug of Silk Road Velvet Potion tea.

The rest of the evening was spent lounging around, which was fine by me. But now I must sleep, as I’d like to get in a trip to the gym before my epic shift tomorrow. Night!

That veggie burger looks like it wants to come live in my mouth. I haven’t had a burger in SO long and yours looks so fresh and scrumptious.

Is it weird that I’ve always wanted to try out working in a grocery store? I don’t know why but I love scanning things.. makes me happy and it never grows old.
