It has been a long day, filled with monochomatic eats. Tasty enough for me, but not so exciting for you all to look at. Although, brown is one of my favourite colours (along with green), and I’m sure there are others out there who agree.
This morning I had a relatively early wake up call, as I had a full day of work ahead of me. Good thing I’d prepped breakfast the night before. Too bad it kind of looks like poop.
Take 1 smashed banana, 3 tbsp Chocolate Chia Goodness cereal, 2 tbsp quinoa flakes, and 3/4 cup almond milk. Mix together, and refrigerate overnight.
In the morning, put in a
pretty bowl, and top with things like peanut butter and maple spread.
Pour yourself a glass of mango tangerine juice.
And attempt to take pictures of said breakfast on your back deck while not getting slivers in random body parts.
At least it was early enough that my neighbours weren’t out on their deck, watching the crazy girl in her mismatched pajamas take photos of food while lying on the deck to get the right angle. The things I do for the blog.
It may look like poop, but rest assured, this is one delicious way to eat your Chocolate Chia Goodness cereal. I highly recommend it. Even if your dad makes disparaging comments on its appearance while you try and enjoy it. Thanks dad.
As I had a full work day to look forward to, it meant a full packed lunch was in order.
No surprise here that it featured leftover pasta salad from the night before, “beefed” up (fished up?) with leftover tuna mixed with hummus.
An All-Bran Honey Nut Bar for my morning coffee break (free sample!)
And lovely red grapes for my afternoon coffee break.
Easy as 1-2-3.
By the time I got home at 6 pm, I was faced with an internal dilemma – satisfy hunger or satisfy my intense desire to take a nap. Since there was no dinner ready, the nap won out, and I passed out for a good hour and a half. Of course, it meant I was grumpy and not in the mood to put together anything that involved effort for dinner.
Enter the pb & j sandwich. Okay, so I may have fancied it up slightly, by toasting the bread (Silver Hills sprouted grain), and adding some fresh local strawberries between the peanut butter and raspberry jam layers. Just for you dear readers, just for you.
At least it was still light enough out to take photos!
My inherent laziness also kept me from making the epic 8 minute drive to the gym, but I did go out for a good walk around the ‘hood. It’s actually not a bad workout – we live in a crazy hilly area, and the route I like to take has me going up and down them multiple times, so you still get the heart rate up there. And I got to watch a varied thrush (it’s a bird) take a dust bath. You don’t get that at the gym 😉
A good part of the rest of my evening was spent emailing half of my course instructors, to let them know they have to let me into their classes regardless of what the registration system says about my prerequisites. In fact, even if the classes are full on my registration day, they have to let me in. Thank you mandatory Dietetics program!
And now, it’s time to sleep. I traded my afternoon shift tomorrow for an opening shift, which is great, because I can go to Zumba in the afternoon, but bad because you all know how well mornings and I get along. We also have a little work party to go to in the evening, and I have been perusing the menu…still undecided on what to order. Vote on it while I sleep…no guarantees I’ll order what the blog world chooses though 😉 Night!
