And, we’re back!
I’m sorry about the random disappearances this summer. I guess I’ve just been out living life. Or playing Rock Band. Or something in between 😉
But I have 4 days off work in a row, with plans to get out and enjoy the great outdoors every day. I want to bring you highlights from that, but first want to share what’s been building up on my camera from this past weekend.
I had a pesky work shift in the middle of the day, so it kinda ruined the day for getting up to anything fun. Couple that with the fact that it was – OMG – almost cold! We’ve had some serious sunshine and hot weather for the past week or more, so to wake up to clouds was odd.
Perhaps that’s the reason I passed on a smoothie for breakfast, and went with cereal.
I chopped up a gala apple, heated it in the microwave to soften it, and tossed it with a little cinnamon. Then I added Kashi Cinnamon Harvest cereal, almond milk, and peanut butter.
With a ruby red glass of cranberry juice.
Eventually though, my hankering for a smoothie came a calling, so I made one to take to work. Frozen cherries + Vega Choc-a-Lot Shake & Go Smoothie + almond milk. And a few veggies on the side for something to crunch on.
I didn’t realized I had two breaks during my shift though, and by the time my second break came around, I was feeling the munchies, so I picked up two cauliflower and spinach pakoras from the deli. They were the perfect bite to tide me over until I got home for dinner. Plus they tasted amazing. And now I want to make my own. LOL.
Dinner was take out from White Spot. Mom had been out of town getting cherries, and had just gotten home that evening. Since I’d been at work, I wasn’t into cooking. And dad’s idea of cooking…is take out. So it made sense.
I went with the bacon cheddar chicken burger. T’was delicious.
As were my fresh fries. White Spot has some of my favourite fries. Not too greasy, and not to salty.
The night may or may not have concluded with rocking. I’ll let you decide.
I had made plans to head downtown to go to the Vancouver Pride Parade before work with some friends. But when I woke up at 9 am, I was feelin’ like I hadn’t slept in days, so I had to message my friends and bail. I was bummed, because I’ve never gotten to go to the parade, and I hear it’s an awesome experience. Next year damnit!
When I finally did roll out of bed…it was late. So I made brunch.
Whoa, back the truck up! Is that oats? You better believe it! It was again cold, and I wanted something hearty since this was doing double meal duty.
It started out as some typical banana oatmeal, then I added cocoa at the last minute. Peanut butter made the obvious topping choice.
The cranberry juice was back for an encore.
Work came around far too quickly, so I threw together a quick to-go meal.
Ham, cheese, pickles, lettuce, mayo, dijon sandwich, on Silver Hills sprouted grain bread.
And some huge strawberries. And they are local BC berries!
Kept me going through one boring Sunday evening shift. That’s what happens when it’s a long weekend – no one shops on Sundays!
When I got home, I may have scarfed down some ice cream so fast that the camera couldn’t catch it for you. But it was delicious, so no worries.
Stay tuned – my BC Day holiday Monday shall be recapped soon 🙂
