I Spy Some Pumpkin

If you’ve never been into a Thrifty Foods, I highly recommend checking out their bakery. They have a vast array of delicious baked goods, all made in house. No matter what your taste, they have something to satisfy it. And I’m not just biased because I work there! I shopped there long before being hired on.

Come fall, the pumpkin baked goods start to appear in full force. Sure, we have the traditional pumpkin pie, which looks delicious and flies off the self this time of year. But we also have pumpkin muffins, pumpkin scones, pumpkin tarts, pumpkin bundt cake drenched in a sticky caramel glaze…I could go on. In fact, I will. Because there is one  more seasonal pumpkin treat I decided to try out this year.

That, my friends, would be their White Chocolate Pumpkin Cheesecake. The mini version, although you can buy a full sized one, or even a half sized cake. But since I was just getting this for me, I went with the mini.

I was pretty excited to try this one out. I love white chocolate, and pairing it with pumpkin made it a definite Thanksgiving splurge. Plus I never got to bake any cheesecakes for our family dinner, so I had to get my fix somehow.

I was greeted with a graham cracker crust topped with spiced pumpkin cheesecake, enrobed in white chocolate. It was a heavenly flavour combination, as I had imagined it would be. Not too sweet, good pumpkin flavour, and hey, it’s cheesecake, so it has to be good. My only issue was the cake itself was a little bit dry and crumbly. Not the end of the world, but something to improve upon. Still worthy of being featured during Pumpkin Week!

What pumpkin treats have you found in your local grocery store that have wowed you?

I tried out Angela’s vegan thanksgiving pumpkin-brownie-cake thing, and it was DELICIOUS.

I also just sort of invented a pumpkin chocolate pudding thing, but it needs some tweeks, but is pretty good for a first attempt.

I haven’t found any good pumpkin treats but I haven’t really been looking, either….

I *could* go for a pumpkin scone right about now, though!
