Taste Test – A Mysterious Delivery

Look what arrived on my door step not too long ago!

While I’m hesitant to say the phrase “Christmas came early this year” because I don’t think we need to start celebrating until we actually reach December 1st, they are rather festively wrapped, don’t you think? I honestly had no idea what was inside, and wasn’t even expecting any packages, so I was pretty excited to tear into that wrapping.

What is this? Seasonal Clif bars?! I thought these were just the thing of mystery, only to be released on our southern neighbours every fall. Well guess what? Clif is now bringing their seasonal flavours to Canada. Pretty cool, eh?

From the short note I received with the presents, it tells me that there are in fact not 1, but 2 flavours of seasonal Clif bars – Spiced Pumpkin Pie and Pecan Pie. Sadly, I only received the Spiced Pumpkin Pie bars, so I can’t comment on Pecan Pie, but it sounds like it should be delicious!

The boyfriend and I tested them out, and we were both in agreement that they had a balanced pumpkin spice flavour, although I found it slightly more gingery than my personal tastes. It was nice to see they also use real pumpkin in the bars, so it’s not just about the spices. Like some of their more decadent flavours (like the White Chocolate Macadamia Nut) they have little ribbons of icing on top, which makes it seem like more of a treat, and I don’t know how necessary they really are. Other than that, they are pretty similar in texture and sweetness to other Clif bars.

One other cool thing about the seasonal Clif bars (did you catch that pun?) is that they donate 1% of seasonal sales to the non-profit organization Protect Our Winters – an organization that is educating and engaging winter sports communities around fighting climate change. Always nice to see companies giving back in some way.

Overall, the Spiced Pumpkin Pie seasonal Clif bar was tasty treat to have landed on my doorstep. If Clif bars are your thing, why not check them out? so  I haven’t seem them for sale anywhere near where I live, but I imagine if you are in a bigger centre, you might find them. And if you happen upon a Pecan Pie flavour, let me know how it tastes, okay?
